Prince Albert’s Poor Getting Discount Bus Service

Impoverished residents in Prince Albert are getting a break on their bus fare.

Today, city hall and the Department of Community Resources announced monthly bus passes will be cut from a price of $52 to $15.

Prince Albert mayor Jim Stiglitz hopes the cut helps poorer residents get to jobs and training opportunities they normally wouldn’t be able to afford.

He warns residents the passes must be used, though, or the program will disappear.

The offer is open to those residents who already receive a training allowance, employment insurance or some other form of social assistance.
