A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 days in prison for escaping from an RCMP escort at a Prince Albert jail last week.

Robert Naytowhow fled on foot Thursday morning when he was being transferred from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre to an RCMP vehicle for a court appearance.

He was wearing handcuffs at the time.

Naytowhow was arrested Sunday evening and charged with escaping lawful custody.

The Prince Albert resident received his sentence during a court appearance in the city yesterday.
