Two Prince Albert-area First Nations have elected new chiefs.

Both the Beardy’s/Okemasis and Sturgeon Lake First Nations held chief and council elections on Wednesday, and both bands elected former chiefs to run their respective administrations.

In Beardy’s, Gary Littlepine is back as chief. He replaces Garnet Eyahpaise, who took over from Littlepine in the band election 2 years ago.

Littlepine’s band council includes 4 incumbents — Harvey Cameron, Shirley Gamble, Laurette Gamble and Warren Seeseequasis. The newcomers include Ross Gardipy, Glen Seeseequasis, Delano Mike and Ernie Thomas.

In Sturgeon Lake, former chief Henry Daniels is back at the helm. He takes over from Earl Ermine, who made an unsuccessful bid for council.

The Sturgeon Lake band council includes 3 new faces — Robert Ermine, Sandra Felix and Danny Moosehunter. Incumbent councillors Craig Bighead, Donna Kingfisher and Jonas Sanderson are back for another term.
