Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River MP Gary Merasty used question period in the House of Commons yesterday to question the conduct of former MP Jeremy Harrison.

Merasty accused Indian Affairs Minister Jim Prentice of abusing the public purse and using taxpayers’ money to finance Harrison’s “re-election campaign”.

Merasty’s comments were a reference to Harrison’s summer tour of northern communities, which Harrison said he would use to gauge his support for a possible bid for re-election.

Prentice called Merasty’s statements more “malignant slander” from the Liberals.

Prentice went on to say that Harrison “is working on assigned tasks for me”.

Merasty is calling on Prentice to fire Harrison.
