Preliminary Hearing Set For Apartment Arson Case

The teen at the centre of a triple manslaughter case in La Ronge will be back in court in January.

Blake David Norman, 19, is charged with one count of arson and three counts of manslaughter, in connection with this spring’s fatal fire at Lakeview Apartments.

In court this morning, provincial court judge Sid Robinson set the matter over for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 21, 2010.

That’s because if a full trial is set, the defense has asked to have the matter heard by a Queen’s Bench judge.

Norman also faces additional charges of assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000, on a separate matter.

That matter will be tried by a La Ronge Provincial Court judge on Jan. 22.
