The acting chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says the crowds at the FSIN’s annual pow wow and cultural celebrations this weekend in Saskatoon are expected to double from last year.

Guy Lonechild says last year’s event drew well over 5,000 people.

This year, those numbers are expected to skyrocket because organizers have extended invitations to spectators, dancers and drummers from all over the world.

Lonechild says this event is a good way for Aboriginal people in Saskatchewan to get in touch with their cultural roots.

The FSIN pow wow and cultural gathering, which will be held at the Credit Union Centre, is set to begin Friday evening and wrap up on Sunday.
