The RCMP wants help from the public to solve a homicide on the Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation.

Calvin Jacob Laswisse was murdered in his home on the reserve six weeks ago.

His body was found by a family member on May 28th.

Joan Rider is Laswisse’s first cousin and neighbour.

She says she was shocked to hear that Laswisse had been murdered.

Rider describes him as a “happy individual . . . always joking, laughing”.

She says the homicide still has the community asking “Why him?”.

RCMP say the door of Laswisse’s small home was forced open.

They have not released the cause of death.

The Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation is about 75 kilometres northeast of Regina.
