Indian Affairs has asked the police to help investigate the activities of an employee from its regional office in Prince Albert.

Last month, the department put a funding services officer on “paid administrative leave”.

The department won’t say why, but it has confirmed an investigation by an independent consultant is underway.

Spokesman James Parker also says the department has referred some information related to the probe to the Prince Albert Police.

However, Parker can’t say whether the department suspects criminal activity has taken place.

Parker also can’t say how long the investigation might last.
