The sudden death of a baby girl from the Whitefish reserve has prompted authorities from Prince Albert to look into the case.

The parents of the three-month-old infant rushed her to hospital early Sunday morning after they discovered she had quit breathing.

The baby was declared dead on arrival and the coroner was called in.

Because a cause of death was not determined, Prince Albert police were also summoned.

Sergeant Al Fraser explains that the involvement of the police is routine in cases like this one.

He says, right now, all anyone wants to do is find out how the girl died.

Fraser adds they have no reason to suspect foul play was involved.

Lab results should be known in the next few days.
