A northern Saskatchewan man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for manslaughter after making a plea bargain with the Crown.

36-year-old Michael Bearboy had originally been charged with second-degree murder following the shooting death of 32-year-old Darren Ben earlier this year.

Ben’s body was discovered outside a residence on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan reserve near Loon Lake in the early morning hours of March 4th.
