Plans Made To Replace Gold Eagle Casino

The Battlefords Tribal Council has taken the first step toward building a new casino in North Battleford.

The city received a letter from the tribal council earlier this week formally announcing its intention to build a new Gold Eagle casino.

Plans call for the new casino to be located behind the present one.

BTC chiefs say the new facility is being built to ensure the North Battleford casino maintains its market share.

They say it will be comparable to new casinos at Yorkton, Swift Current and the Whitecap Dakota First Nation.

The letter does not say when the new casino might be built or how much it will cost.

It also doesn’t say what will become of the present casino when the new one is up and running.

A public notice about BTC’s application will now be prepared.

A report, along with any reaction received, will be presented at the September 22nd meeting of city council.

Once plans are drawn up, they will have to be approved by city building and planning departments.
