An Olympic gold medallist says people in the La Ronge area should clear their calendars for Saturday, Nov. 7.
Curler Joan McCusker encourages La Ronge residents to plan their day around celebrations scheduled for the Olympic torch relay’s first stop in Saskatchewan.
McCusker says the day’s events will start with a pancake breakfast and a two-hour show at the Mel Heglund Uniplex that will “absolutely knock your socks off.”
Then, with the plane carrying the torch expected to touch down at around 11 a.m. that day, she wants people ready to greet the Olympic flame.
“Whether they’re along the route, or whether they’re waiting for it and watching the entertainment at the arena, waiting for the cauldron to be lit by the last torch runner, that’s a good spot to be as well,” McCusker says.
The exact route the torch runners will take has not been officially released.
