Metis elders in Prince Albert could soon have a new place to live.

The Ministry of Social Services is providing $2.3 million for construction of 12 affordable housing units.

Local MLA Darryl Hickie says this is a type of project that the government has never funded in the past, and it wanted to target a group that had been “left out”.

Hickie says the complex may go up in the East Flat.

He says details for the construction still have to decided.
