There was plenty of excitement at the La Ronge Airport this afternoon when a West Wind Aviation Jetstream 31 made a crash landing just left of the runway.

West Wind Aviation spokesman Dennis Baranieski says the aircraft, which was en route to Saskatoon from Points North Landing, began shifting to the left upon approach at the La Ronge airstrip.

He says the crew landed the plane safely, approximately six metres left of the runway.

Baranieski says the 16 passengers and two crew members on board were not injured and the aircraft was not damaged.

He adds today’s events are being investigated. However, he says this was a relatively minor incident, and notes emergency crew services were not needed.
