Four candidates are running for chief in next month’s Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation election.

Incumbent Ron Michel is up against challengers Lester Gardiner, Harold Linklater and Hector Morin.

Meanwhile, a total of 71 candidates are running for 14 spots on the band council.

The election will be held on April 12th in seven different communities.

Peter Ballantyne is generally regarded to be the second-largest First Nation in the province, behind the Lac La Ronge Indian Band — which incidentally, will hold its chief and council election tomorrow.
