Perfect Attenders to be Rewarded with Cash

The Northern Lights School Division is offering cash incentives to students that record perfect school attendance.

Any child that doesn’t miss a single day from kindergarten to Grade 6 will receive 500 dollars, while perfect attendance from Grade 7 through to Grade 12 will be rewarded with a one-thousand-dollar cash prize.

School division spokesman Bob Wyatt says a lot of attempts to increase school attendance across the North have not been successful, but he’s optimistic about this program.

The program starts this year, but Wyatt says it will be retroactive for any students that are currently on a perfect attendance streak.
