Pelican Narrows Toddler Run Over By Car

The community of Pelican Narrows is mourning the death of a young boy.

At about 11:30 yesterday morning, a two-and-a-half-year-old boy from the northern community was hit by a car backing out of a babysitter’s residence where he had just been dropped off.

The toddler was transported to the local medical clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

Sgt. Rob Ruiters with the RCMP says it appears this was nothing more than a terrible accident, and the Mounties are not anticipating laying charges.

The name of the child has not been released — but the RCMP say he was a resident of Pelican Narrows.
