The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation is benefiting from the federal government’s stimulus package.
Housing director Trevor Morin confirms the band is getting $2.3 million dollars to help address housing needs in a variety of locations.
He says $750,000 of that sum is going toward a new urban reserve located 14 miles west of Prince Albert.
Morin says the new reserve will get a housing complex as well as upgrades in infrastructure.
He says the rest of the money will be split between the other six PBCN communities, with $961,000 set aside for new housing.
Morin says another $779,000 will be used to renovate 50 existing units.
