Three men have officially announced their intention to run for chief of Saskatchewan’s largest First Nation.

Electoral officer Steven Swan says incumbent Harold Linklater, Ted J. Merasty and Darrell McCallum have all let their names stand in the nomination for chief of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.

Linklater has served as chief since a November 2005 by-election, which was held shortly after former chief Ron Michel bolted to take over as grand chief of the Prince Albert Grand Council.

Swan says he is still waiting for official results from the band’s various communities on who is vying for the available positions on band council.

The PBCN election is slated to take place on April 12th.
