The operator of a hunting camp near Patuanak says the federal government should relax some of its gun rules at airports.

Carlin Nordstrom says he doesn’t have a problem with safeguards to ensure potential terrorists are kept out of the country, but can’t see why hunters from Texas and Oklahoma have to jump through hoops just to transport their rifles up for hunting trips.

Nordstrom says he has only been in the business for a couple of years but knows other outfitters who share similar concerns.

He says since the attacks of September 11th and the downturn in the U.S. economy, times have been tough for many outfitters.

He feels Ottawa could help by cutting up some of the red tape at customs.
