An Athabasca leader says residents of the Far North are prepared to vote for any political party that commits to building all-weather roads in the region.

Athabasca Economic Development and Training Corporation chair Glen Strong is hoping to hear the 3 major political parties in the province make this an election issue.

The federal and provincial governments have been haggling over who should pay the majority of the estimated 40 to 50 million dollar cost.

Strong says both levels of government have been presented with several sound arguments for the roads, and isn’t sure what else they need to here.

Strong says no other Saskatchewan community has had to work as hard to prove it needs a road.

Strong also says even though the NDP won handily in the last provincial election in the Athabasca riding, voters in the Far North are prepared to go with whichever party will promise to deliver the all-weather roads.
