The Prince Albert Inn is the site of a major conference this week for women from First Nations within the Prince Albert Grand Council.

Shirley Henderson, the president of the PAGC Women’s Commission, says a wide range of topics will be discussed related to the subject of safety in communities.

Henderson says safety on reserves is something that all people must work on.

However, she notes the conference will focus on little things women can do to prevent bad situations from happening.

Henderson says bullying, childhood exploitation and how to increase parental involvement at schools will all be tackled.

She hopes the conference gives female band members a sense of what they can do to make their communities safer.

A documentary examining the plight of missing women will be shown tomorrow night at the PAGC gymnasium.

A walk will be held on Thursday morning to honour the memories of Aboriginal women who have gone missing.

The conference wraps up on Thursday.
