PAGC Skeptical of Province’s Justice Reform Plans

The Prince Albert Grand Council is giving the NDP government a failing grade over its recent response to the commission on First Nations and Metis reform.

Last week the province announced it would pour 48 million dollars into one hundred different initiatives to answer outstanding questions regarding aboriginal people in the justice system.

However leaders with the P.A.G.C. say the plan does not go far enough in addressing violence against women.

They also question why the government is not returning more control over justice issues to northern communities.

No one from the P.A.G.C. was immediately available for comment.
