PAGC Detox Centre Closer To Becoming Reality

It appears a 15-bed youth addictions treatment facility spearheaded by the Prince Albert Grand Council could be built in Prince Albert after being rejected in other communities.

The Prince Albert/Parkland Health Region’s board of directors has approved the use of property near the Victoria Hospital as a possible destination for the detox centre.

CEO Cecile Hunt says the health region values its relationship with the PAGC and wants to explore the idea.

Hunt says the board could either lease the land to the PAGC or possibly arrange for a sale — but adds it’s too soon to say if the proposal will proceed.

The board is currently preparing to hear legal advice over the plan.

More information is expected to come to light after the board meets again on June 27th.
