An Aboriginal leader was honoured today by a prominent post-secondary institution.

Gary Merasty, chief of the Prince Albert Grand Council, received an honourary diploma from SIAST’s Woodland Campus in Prince Albert.

Merasty says he is very flattered to be receiving the award.

He also credits SIAST with being a good steward for Aboriginal young people seeking professional careers.

Merasty is giving an address to SIAST students at this afternoon’s graduation ceremony.
