The coordinator for the Prince Albert Grand Council Women’s Commission says an inter-agency approach will soon be used in the battle against Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

Sandi Morin says pooling the minds of the agency workers already in the community makes more sense than creating a whole new department, since many of the people affected by the problem will likely be known to the workers in place.

Morin, who has studied the disorder for the past few years, says the “asset mapping” approach will also allow the individual communities to decide which methods work best for them.

Morin says that process will take into account the differences that exist between northern communities.

She adds some training has already taken place within a few communities and more is on the way.
