The City of Prince Albert has been selected to host a major gathering of Aboriginal music and artists this fall.

Premier Lorne Calvert made the announcement at a press conference yesterday.

Titled “Waniska”, the event will bring together singers, songwriters, musicians and promoters from across the country.

Calvert says the event should help bring local artists to the spotlight as well.

Waniska is scheduled to be held October 5th and will coincide with the annual Prince Albert pow-wow.

Organizers say many different types of music will be represented at the event.
