The City of Prince Albert is the latest partner to sign onto the province’s Aboriginal employment development initiative.

Under the terms of the deal, the city will take steps to welcome Aboriginal employees into its workforce and share information with Aboriginal employers.

The president of Metis Local 7, Darlene McKay, hopes the move leads to more well-paying jobs for Aboriginal residents, and not merely minimum wage positions

McKay adds Aboriginal students should also be updated on what the job market is like before they decide what classes to take.

This is the 90th Aboriginal employment development agreement signed by the province.
