The Coordinator of a New Employees Network at the Prince Albert/Parkland Health Authority says she’s optimistic more Aboriginal people will be hired soon.

Barb Thomas says the creation of the Aboriginal Employees Network is designed to help recruit and retain First Nations and Métis workers.

Right now, Thomas estimates the workforce of the health authority is 19% Aboriginal, however she’d like to see that number spike to 35% in 5 years.

Thomas says the network will be very inclusive and Non-Aboriginal members will not be shut out.
