Ottawa Signs Accord With National Metis Body

The federal government has entered into an official protocol with the Metis National Council.

MNC president Clem Chartier says the agreement will mean a more structured working relationship with Ottawa on issues important to the Metis.

Chartier says he has been working on the protocol since the last week of August, but was forced to fast-track the process with federal Metis Interlocutor Chuck Strahl because of the election call.

He says he believes Strahl and the Prime Minister are sincere about this initiative, and he looks forward to this new level of negotiation.
