Three First Nations in the Kamsack area have reason to celebrate.

Last Thursday, the federal government signed off on the $73.5 million Pelly Hay-Lands land claim for the Cote, Keeseekoose and Key First Nations.

According to band officials, there are certain guidelines that all three reserves have to follow.

For Keeseekoose, which is receiving $23.7 million, approximately $15 million will be locked away for long-term investment, $5 million will be set aside for economic development, and the remainder will be distributed amongst the band membership.

It is expected that each band member registered to Keeseekoose will receive approximately $1,700 within 45 days.

The chiefs and councils of the affected reserves say further details will be released early next week.
