One of the candidates for the Liberal nomination in the Desnethe-Missinipi Churchill River constituency says he isn’t impressed to hear reports Joan Beatty may be appointed to the position.

A report in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix today, says Liberal Leader Stephane Dion may scrap the contest and simply hand the nomination to Beatty.

So far two candidates, Choiceland farmer David Orchard and Cumberland educator John Dorion have formally tossed their hats into the ring.

Dorion says he’s disappointed to hear the report and hopes the race isn’t cancelled.

Dorion also says he wishes the party would support liberal members who have earned their stripes with the party, something he feels Beatty has not done.

Dorion says he thinks the decision to appoint Beatty could be made quickly.
