The Onion Lake First nation is spending $22-million on new living conditions and other infrastructure for band members.

Today, the band announced a total of 13 capital projects both on- and off-reserve.

Some of the projects announced include construction of a 48-unit apartment complex in Lloydminster, and 41 more housing units on-reserve.

The band’s director of operations, Winston Walkingbear, says the Lloydminster project shows the band cares about providing affordable living conditions for all of its members, including those in urban areas.

Other projects announced include a number of highway upgrades, renovations to the local school, improvements to the water treatment plant and various construction efforts.

Walkingbear says all of the money for the projects is in place, thanks to numerous partnerships with different levels of government.
