A meeting is in the works between the province and a First Nation concerned about health care dollars.

Onion Lake First Nation spokesman Grant Whitstone says band officials plan to sit down with the NDP government next week.

At issue is the band’s x-ray and lab facilities, which up until March 31st had received operating funds from the local regional health authority.

However, that all changed after the health region decided the money should come from Ottawa.

Whitstone says efforts are being made to include the federal government in the equation.

However, he says that will take time, and the band needs money for those services now.

Whitstone says the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations has been lobbying government on the band’s behalf, but it’s still not clear when the issue will be resolved.
