The mayor of La Loche has a list of questions ready for when officials from Oilsands Quest arrive in her village later this week.

Georgina Jolibois is looking forward to a public forum organized by the company that wants to develop the rich oilsands in Saskatchewan’s northwest.

While Jolibois has been pleased by company officials’ willingness to talk openly about their plans for development in the La Loche area, she says there are some questions she hasn’t had answered yet.

“How soon will they begin operation again, and how committed are Oilsands Quest to hiring local people — not only in employment opportunities but in contract opportunities? I want to make sure that residents in La Loche and the nearby communities are given a priority in employment and contracts,” Jolibois says.

The meeting in La Loche is set for Friday afternoon, at the community hall.

Officials from Oilsands Quest will also hold public forums for two local First Nations — today for Birch Narrows, and Thursday for Clearwater River.
