Ochapowace Man Killed In Weekend Bar Fight

Police continue to interview witnesses to a bar fight in Broadview that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man from the Ochapowace First Nation on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Matthew Troy McKay. An autopsy is set for today, to determine the cause of McKay’s death.

Another man, a 20-year-old from the Kahkewistahaw First Nation, was also injured during the bar brawl, but has since been treated and released from hospital. His name has not been released.

Investigators are talking with anyone who was inside the bar at the Broadview Hotel when the fight broke out, and are asking anyone else with information to call either the local RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
