Ochapowace Loses Long-Time Chief

A wake has been scheduled for tomorrow on the Ochapowace First Nation after the sudden passing of Chief Denton George.

The long-time leader died suddenly on Sunday.

The band says his position will be filled eventually, but the main concern right now is for his family.

George served as Ochapowace’s chief for 20 years, and fought tirelessly for the advancement of treaty rights throughout the province.

He was 58.
