Nursing students at the Kawacatoose First Nation won’t have to leave home anymore when they begin their training.

The band has entered into an agreement with SIAST that will see instructors drive out to the reserve to hold regular classes.

Stan Asapace is an Education Coordinator with the band. He says they recently tried the same approach with students who wished to become teachers, with great success.

He adds the close-at-home arrangement is simply a better fit for youth living on reserve.
