Four communities in Northern Saskatchewan are receiving funds from the Northern Sport, Culture and Recreation District.

The Village of Green Lake is set to receive $150,000 to help upgrade the arena, curling rink, community hall and playground facility.

Close to $80,000 more will be spent to fix the roof of the uniplex in La Ronge, and the same amount will go towards the soccer field and arena in Creighton.

As well, money will be spent to purchase an ice plant for the arena in Cumberland House.

Russ Duncombe, a Community Development Coordinator with the District, says as part of the financial commitment the communities are required to put forward some cash of their own too.

The funding is part of a larger $2 million allocation made by the Provincial Government.
