The mayor of Ile-a-la-Crosse says he’s excited about the re-emergence of a lobby group for northern Saskatchewan’s West Side.

Max Morin says a total of 18 communities are now represented by the Northwest Saskatchewan Municipalities Association.

The group is designed to promote employment opportunities for local residents, as well as push for

repairs to critical infrastructure.

Morin says the association has been up and running since May 14th after a few years on hiatus.

He says the organization is already contemplating how to jumpstart work on the Garson Lake road project.

Morin says the communities involved still intend to stay on as members of New North — they just felt more emphasis needed to be placed on issues affecting residents of the West Side.
