Some contractors in northwest Saskatchewan are talking about forming their own association in a bid to get more northern contracts.

Philip Chartier of Buffalo Narrows says there is concern they are missing out on a lot of contracts in the area of mineral exploration and road construction.

Chartier notes a record $150 million is expected to be spent on searching for minerals this year, and northern contractors want their fair share of that business.

He says there hasn’t been an association like this in the northwest since the 1970s.

A founding meeting is scheduled to take place on April 24th in Buffalo Narrows.
