Northerners Urged to Walk More Often

A diabetes coordinator with the Prince Albert Grand Council is encouraging northern communities to participate in a health initiative next week.

October 6th is the date for International Walk to School Day.

The event is intended to encourage youth to get more exercise and Jan Kroll of the PAGC says it’s sorely needed in the North.

Kroll says some communities actually created walking and jogging programs over the summer, but she’d like to see more done.

Kroll adds she’s glad to see hunting season is here, as it prompts many residents to endure lengthy trips where they get plenty of exercise.
