The Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan has announced a new student leadership forum that will have a heavy presence from the North.

It will see 18 students in Grades 11 and 12 selected to take part in an 11-day event in mid-October that will expose the youth to leaders in government and industry.

Lt. Gov. Gordon Barnhart says half of the students chosen will come from northern Saskatchewan.

He says it was important for him to make sure students in remote northern communities had an equal shot at this opportunity with their southern counterparts.

The forum will be held in Saskatoon, Regina and La Ronge.

The deadline to apply is May 11th.
