Northerners Amongst Those Heading Out To Vote

Voters in municipalities across the province are headed to the polls today.

In Saskatchewan’s north, the most hotly-contested mayoralty races are in La Ronge, where the retirement of long-time mayor Joe Hordyski leaves a big hole that four of his current and former councillors are eager to fill, and in Beauval, where incumbent Alex Maurice faces five challengers.

The La Ronge candidates are Tracy Fiske, Al Loke, Thomas Sierzycki and Ron Woytowich, while Maurice’s challengers are Joe Daigneault, Eugene Kimbley, Max C.D. Morin, Fred C. Roy and Larry Roy.

Air Ronge residents will choose between incumbent mayor Gordon Stomp or one of his challengers: Jeff Simpson and Ron Ratte.

Stony Rapids mayor Daniel Powder is running for re-election against Sandra Hanson, while in Ile-a-la-Crosse, Duane Favel is being challenged by Vye Bouvier and Allen J. Morin.
