Northerner Bidding For NDP By-election Nomination

A Buffalo Narrows man is hoping to secure the NDP nomination for the upcoming by-election in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River.

Brian Morin says he has been mulling it over ever since former MP Gary Merasty called it quits last year.

Morin says the recent Liberal infighting in the riding did not influence his decision.

He also doesn’t know if it will improve his chances if he ends up being chosen as the NDP candidate.

Morin is not aware of anyone else seeking the NDP nomination.

His priorities include getting northerners a better return on their natural resources, enhancing northern post-secondary education, and getting a federal commitment for the all-weather road network in the Far North.
