The federal and provincial governments have announced they’re pouring $4 million into capital projects in La Loche and Ile-a-la-Crosse.

The money is coming out of the Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund.

At a press conference this morning, the two levels of government announced that $2.6 million will go towards a sewage lagoon expansion in La Loche, while Ile-a-la-Crosse will receive $1.4 million for an upgrade to its water treatment plant.

Twelve other communities are also receiving funds. They include Meadow Lake, which will receive $209,000 for a booster station upgrade and a water main extension.

As well, the rural municipality of Loon Lake will get $189,000 for a culvert replacement project.

Both governments say improvements to infrastructure are at the top of their priority lists.
