Northern Village Goes Hours Without Phone Service

Phone service is back to normal in Buffalo Narrows.

Around 400 residents were unable to use their land lines and Internet for much of yesterday after someone accidently cut through a fibre optic cable while digging a trench.

Sasktel spokeswoman Michelle Englot says the problem was fixed around 1:00 this morning and systems are back online.

Englot says this type of thing happens from time to time, but adds anyone doing heavy work should always phone before they dig.

Englot says it’s especially important to do that whenever heavy machinery is being used.
