The provincial government is committing 13.7 million dollars over the next five years towards Northern Saskatchewan’s Multi-Party Training Plan for mining.

The Multi-Party Training Plan enables mining companies, the provincial and federal governments and other partners to connect northerners to skilled jobs in the mining sector.

The plan is entering its third 5-year phase. Over the first 10 years of the plan, more than 12-hundred training certificates were awarded.

That represents 83 per cent of the students that actually took the program. Of those graduates, 81 per cent were of Aboriginal ancestry.

The renewal of the agreement was signed by 14 partners today in La Ronge.
