A number of northern high school students are being presented with the province’s highest honour for academic achievement this week.

By the end of the week, Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock will have personally presented awards to over 90 students, including six students who have earned a prestigious Lieutenant Governor’s award.

Two of those students were honoured yesterday in Cumberland House — Mercedes Goulet, a Grade 9 student at Charlebois School, and Gerald McKenzie, a Grade 12 student at Nisto Awasisak Memorial School.

Haverstock is presenting another Lieutenant Governor’s Award today in Stanley Mission. It’s being given to Nicholas Charles — a Grade 10 student at Rhoda Hardlotte Memorial High School.

Later this week, Haverstock will be visiting La Ronge, Beauval and Ile-a-la-Crosse to present more awards. Lieutenant Governor’s Award winners from those communities include Brittany Favel, a Grade 11 student at Rossignol School in Ile-a-la-Crosse, Natasha Ivanochko of La Ronge — who graduated last year — and Matthew Obey, a Grade 8 Student at Valleyview School in Beauval.
