The RCMP say they are planning to visit a large chunk of northern Saskatchewan in an effort to drastically increase the number of recruits.

Northern Saskatchewan Recruitment Coordinator Cst. Cory Patterson says the recruitment drive will begin on October 10th in Deschambault Lake, and should cover all areas of the North.

Patterson says there is a push by the federal government for the RCMP to hire 2000 new officers every year for the next 5 years.

He adds “F” Division in Saskatchewan is doing it’s part by getting the message out to all communities through public information sessions.

Patterson says there is also a large demand for First Nations and Metis recruits, not only in Saskatchewan, but across the country.
